RHS level3 advanced Certificate in horticulture
This vocationally-oriented course is designed for those pursuing a career in horticulture and prepares students to take the RHS examination. The Advanced Certificate in Horticulture is recognised throughout the world as an advanced qualification and consists of the first sections of the Diploma in Horticulture.
Students study seven or eight modules in depth before electing to take the theory and practical examinations set by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). Practical examinations are undertaken in the UK but it may be possible to arrange for the theory papers to be taken with us in France or elsewhere.
As with all our courses, study papers are provided on a CD, with each of the modules involving approximately 100 hours of work. Modules are divided into 10 lessons with an assignment set at the end of each. These are sent to the Academy for marking and are returned to you with comments and suggestions.
Working with Colin Elliott, an experienced professional horticulturist and garden designer, this CD-based course is your route to this highly respected and widely recognised qualification. The course provides some 700-800 hours of study.
Academy modules provided in this course:
A Propagation 1
Soil management
D
Crops 1
Protected Plant Production
RHS Exams and Qualifications
To be awarded the RHS qualification (ie. RHS Advanced Certificate), you must sit and pass:
- Three, 2 hour theory exams (in modules A and B and also in your elected option).
- A 3 hour practical exam (covering module C)
RHS exams are conducted twice yearly (spring and autumn).
You must apply to the RHS to sit these in advance of the exam.
Theory exams can be sat anywhere in the world (discuss with the school if need be).
Practical exams can only be undertaken in the UK at the present time.
A fee must be paid to the RHS for each exam sat.
ACS Credits
You also have the option of sitting exams in each (or any) of the seven or 8 modules. To sit and pass such an exam will provide an ACS credit which can be used to contribute toward an ACS awarded certificate or diploma.
ACS exams can be arranged anywhere in the world, any week of the year.
A fee applies for each exam.
Practical Examination
The RHS advises that candidates should be aware that this course requires a broad practical experience in horticulture and that the progression from RHS Certificate 2 to Advanced Certificate is a “considerable step”.
Course cost: £ 1,620.00 (single payment)
OR 2 payments of £ 865.00
