Royal Horticultural society - courses leading to accredited qualifications
The Royal Horticultural Society is the UK's leading gardening charity dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting good gardening. Its goal is to help people share a passion for plants, to encourage excellence in horticulture and inspire all those with an interest in gardening.
RHS Qualifications is a nationally recognised awarding body offering a range of accredited qualifications for both professional horticulturists and keen gardeners.
Studying for RHS qualifications opens up a host of career opportunities in areas ranging from landscape design to journalism to research. The courses are ideal for nurserymen and gardeners wanting to expand their theoretical knowledge.
The Garden Design Academy is proud to offer the full range of RHS courses and is the only provider of RHS distance learning in mainland Europe.
We are currently or will soon be offering courses for the following RHS qualifications:
RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation and Development
RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance
RHS Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth, Health and Applied Propagation
RHS Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Garden Planning, Construction and Planting
A suite of qualifications in practical horticulture at levels 1, 2 and 3 is under development by the RHS and if we are able to offer these we will provide details on request.
To obtain any of the above awards by the RHS in England, the student needs to sit and pass written exams conducted under supervision and assessed by the RHS. Exams can be arranged to be sat anywhere in the world and are offered twice annually; in February and June.
A separate fee applies for exams; set by and paid to the RHS. A network of exam centres are located across the UK for students located in the UK. For students located elsewhere a provision is made for exams to be conducted "under arrangements for exceptional supervision".
Those who want only to study the subject without sitting an exam are free to do so.
Working with Colin Elliott, an experienced professional horticulturist and garden designer, these courses are your route to a highly respected and widely recognised qualification.
